Our Team

UDS Foundation works under the direction of our dedicated Non-Profit Board of Directors who provide oversight and direction for all UDS Foundation programs.

Shawn Long, UDS Foundation Board of Directors Shawn M. Long Chairman

Shawn Long is a current partner at Barley Snyder – Lancaster Attorneys. Shawn concentrates his creditor’s rights and bankruptcy practice on the needs of banks, credit unions, businesses, and municipal clients. His experience enforcing the rights of creditors through court proceedings enables him to effectively negotiate on behalf of his clients. He provides a wealth of knowledge regarding legal affairs and business acumen as the Chair of the UDS Foundation Board. Shawn has over 10 years as an active member of the UDSF Board. Previously, he was Vice President of the Board. Before becoming a lawyer, Shawn served 6 years in the United States Marine Corps.

Bill Kepner President & CEO

Bill Kepner was named President and CEO of UDS Foundation in July 2010. He was originally hired as COO in 2008 as part of a succession plan following former President and CEO Gerald Meck. Bill previously served on the UDS Board of Directors and was Board President in 1994 and 1995. Bill brings over 25 years of experience in senior level management to UDSF, most recently as Chief Operating Officer of the Inglis Foundation in Philadelphia, a housing and community services organization for people with disabilities. Bill graduated from Juniata. He currently serves as President of the Pennsylvania Provider Coalition.

Bill Kepner
President & CEO View Bio

Bill Kepner was named President and CEO of UDS Foundation in July 2010. He was originally hired as COO in 2008 as part of a succession plan following former President and CEO Gerald Meck. Jason Asbell Director

Karen Meck Director

Karen Meck has more than 20 years of experience in financial services and taxation and brings considerable expertise in tax planning to the board.  She is currently active in the community and serves as a board member of the Lancaster County Estate Planning Council and volunteers for the Boys and Girls Club of Lancaster.  Karen Meck is President of a national independent tax consulting and insurance advisory firm known as KBM Consulting, LLC.   This is Karen’s first year as a UDS Foundation Board member.  She also chairs the UDSF business development committee.

Matthew K. Pfeiffenberger Director

Matt Pfeiffenberger began his career with Murray Securus in 2006. Matt brings a broad range of skills and experience to Murray Securus having worked in the employee benefits industry for over twenty-three years. Prior to joining Murray Securus he served as National Director – Benefit Communications for Willis North America where he was responsible for leading the national benefits communication team, which provided employee communication services to Willis’ clients nationwide. Prior to his work with Willis, he served as Senior Vice President for CGI Consulting Group, Inc., in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

 

During his career Matt has lead full-service employee benefits communications and client services teams which provide year-round employee support, engagement and education services to client-employers. As the Vice President of Health Benefits, Matt is responsible for benefit communications, benefits and HR training, as well as advocacy and compliance support for both Murray Securus’ benefit clients and the agency’s benefits consulting teams. Matt also serves as the agency’s lead in following and tracking the development and enactment of the recent Healthcare Reform Legislation – The Affordable Care Act – and its implications for employer-sponsored benefit plans. Matt has spent significant time in Washington D.C. since 2009 on behalf of his clients, their employees and the employee benefits industry.

Matt Pfeiffenberger began his career with Murray Securus in 2006. Currently, Jennifer is a supervisor at Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz (BSSF). She works with a wide variety of closely held businesses to meet their accounting and tax needs and also specializes in employee benefit plan audits. Jennifer is a Certified Quick Books® ProAdvisor.

Tom is rejoining the board after previously serving as the Chairman of the UDS Direct Services Board from 2005 to 2010. Tom is also currently active in the community serving as current member and Past-President of the Rotary Club of Lancaster South, emeritus member and Past-President of the Penn Manor Education Foundation and a member and Treasurer for Manor Church. Currently, Tom is employed with M&T Bank, serving as a Vice President, Business Banking Relationship Manager.

Edward Schoenberger Director

Ed Schoenberger retired after 34 years as a teacher. Many of those years were spent with elementary special education children. Ed brings an understanding of the clients served by UDS through his experience as a teacher. He is a past member of the Board of LANCO Federal Credit Union and served on the board for 30 years.  Currently, he serves on the Endowment Committee of his church. Ed joined the UDS Board in 2018.

Rhonda Ulrich Director

Rhonda Ulrich has more than 35 years of experience in the Healthcare industry and brings experience in Rehabilitation Services management to her board position.

Rhonda joined the UDSF Board in 2018.  Currently, Rhonda is the Director of Clinical Operations for Rehab Services for Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

Rhonda Ulrich has more than 35 years of experience in the Healthcare industry and brings experience in Rehabilitation Services management to her board position.

Rhonda joined the UDSF Board in 2018.  Currently, Rhonda is the Director of Clinical Operations for Rehab Services for Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

 

Nicole Zimmerman, DO Director

Nicole Zimmerman, DO, joined the UDSF Board in January 2016.  She specializes in Family Medicine at Lincoln Family Health an entity of Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health.  She sees patients of all ages–in the office, at the hospital, or in their own homes.  Since completing her residency at the former Community Hospital of Lancaster, she has been in practice for 18 years.

Dr. Zimmerman lives in Lititz with her husband, her 4 boys and 3 step-kids, 4 dogs and 2 cats. When she is not at work, she is even busier at home with kids and sports activities (baseball, ice hockey, soccer, and lacrosse).

Dr. Zimmerman joins the UDSF Board because of her desire and commitment to make a difference in the local community.
