Accessibility check list

A) Are there sufficient designated and marked accessible parking spaces? YES/2 spaces
B) Are the accessible spaces the ones closest to the accessible entrance? YES
Are they marked with the national symbol of accessibility? YES
C) Can at least one of the accessible spaces accommodate a lift-equipped van? YES if the space beside remains empty so the wheelchair can be maneuvered to get on and off the lift.
D) Is the path of travel (sidewalks, walkways) free of cracks, bumps and other surface irregularities that could cause someone to trip or fall? YES
E) Are ramp slopes safe and convenient for people using wheelchairs? YES
F) Are at least 50% of all public entrances accessible? YES - only one entrance at this location
G) Are door handles no higher than 48" and possible to operate by someone with limited use of his/her hands? YES
H) For manual doors, is it possible for someone with limited ability to open them (one hand, little effort)? YES
I) Are all aisles and pathways at least 36" wide? YES - open aisles were very nice
J) Are there floor areas located throughout the establishment to allow a person using a wheelchair to reverse directions and turn around? YES

L) Are there grab bars behind and on the side walls nearest the toilet in the bathrooms? YES
M) Is there at least one accessible lavatory? YES

Comments: Participants of UDS/CHOICES arrived at 11am on a Wednesday, a party of 20 with 7 people in wheelchairs. They commented that the service and the food at this establishment were very good, they had no accessibility issues and they enjoyed their outing. We appreciate their input. February 2007
