(Lancaster, PA) Horst Group recently held two events to support United Disabilities Services, their charity of choice since 2003. Horst Group's annual Horst Grille and "Generous Jeans Week" netted $1,230.00 for UDS. The Horst Group management then decided to match their employees' generous contributions to bring the grand total to $2,500.00
The Horst Grille is an annual picnic held in the Horst Group's parking lot at Granite Run Corporate Center. Several of Horst's executives, including owner and CEO Randall Horst, grilled hamburgers, hot dogs and sausages for the employees. A minimum donation of $5.00 was the requested price of lunch, with all the proceeds donated to UDS. Thanks to the generous contributions of twenty local companies, almost everything for the Grille was donated.
The Grille also enjoyed a visit from representatives of UDS New Life Assistance Dogs Program. Several mature dogs and several puppies just entering primary training were available for brief demonstrations. New Life Assistance Dogs trains service dogs to aid people with physical disabilities. It is just one of the many UDS programs that has benefited from Horst Group's fundraising efforts over the years. Since 2003, Horst Group has donated over $62,000 to UDS, making them the top corporate partner for the agency.
In an effort to make an impact on a single charity rather than spreading smaller contributions over a larger agency base, a committee of Horst employees reviewed various agencies and voted to name United Disabilities Services as the Company's agency of choice. While employees have the freedom to support another agency of their choice, the collective efforts of internal company fundraising activities and the corporate contribution will go to UDS. In addition to supporting the agency with monetary contributions, in-kind services such as building picnic tables, Christmas Booth gift-wrappings, etc, are also provided. Horst also hosts a number of special events such as the Horst Grille and the Horst Cafe, all of which donate their proceeds to UDS.

For a $5.00 donation, guests could enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage sandwiches and support the programs of UDS at the same time. Raffle tickets were sold and great prizes were won. |
