Volunteering

"Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation's compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain love for one another." -- Erma Bombeck

Nothing is so satisfying as helping another person to live a happier and fuller life. Your gift of time, energy and love can have a important impact on deserving people in your community. Volunteering your time at special events, fundraisers, and in other ways helps UDS better serve the needs of people with disabilities and the elderly. Without the generous contribution of time and energy from our volunteers, many of the important services of UDS would not be possible. They are also critical to educating the community about the needs of individuals with disabilities and to creating awareness of the many UDS services available.

Volunteer Testimonials: "Participating in the training of a young service dog brings a remarkable sense of joy and accomplishment to those of us who volunteer with UDS.  The joy is from the unconditional love that a dog expresses by wanting to please you and the accomplishment is by seeing that love transferred to someone with a disability as a reliable, working companion who makes a tangible difference in their lives." -- Dorothy DiPasquale

“I believe that dogs are a very special gift from God.  I volunteer to thank Him and to support and encourage those who have taken the responsibility to use these “gifts” by training them to help others.  May God bless UDS.  (Joy Shirker)

We volunteer for UDS Service Dogs because it is an organization that cares about placing dogs with consumers whose lives can be changed by them.  It is something we believe in as a family and enjoy giving our time to helping better someone's life and making them more independent. (Williams Family)
