The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania developed many Home and Community Based Services as a result of a congressional law enacted in 1965. These services have been made available through UDS, and allow Pennsylvanians, even with severe disabilities, to live at home.
With more than 25 years of experience, we can help you determine your eligibility based on your specific needs and financial situation. UDS presently provides Home and Community-Based programs to over 30 counties in Pennsylvania. We assist thousands of individuals with disabilities, who choose to live independently, instead of in a facility or nursing home. There are Home and Community-Based programs for individuals with disabilities age 18-59; and other programs for individuals age 60 and older. These programs are funded through the Office of Long Term Living or the Bureau of Autism Services. Some Home and Community Based programs are known as “waiver programs” because the federal government waives rules in order for the state to provide services to people at home and in the community of their choice.
