One Red Paper Clip

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of items can we trade? Can we trade services?
You can trade all kinds of items - as long as they are legal and morally appropriate. Services are also trade-worthy. The idea is to make each trade a step up toward obtaining a big ticket item.

What are the top 10 most wanted items?
We'd love to receive some big ticket items - like a cruise, a piece of fine jewelry or a vehicle. Heck, if you want to follow in Kyle's example and aim for a house, that would work for us, too.

Is there a minimum acceptable value for a donated item?
No - we welcome donations of all values and sizes. Just use your good judgment. If you can't give it away, chances are, we won't be able to auction it off to benefit the cause.

Are there any items UDS cannot accept as a final donation?
Please keep your live animals at home - domesticaed or feral. Aside from that, UDS reserves the right to refuse any item or service it deems inappropriate for final auction.

I'm trading with a team. Is it okay for us to donate multiple items?
Absolutely.

Is there recommended protocol for conducting a trade?
Each time you or your team makes a trade of significant value (an item or service exceeding $250 in value), please report it to UDS so we can track this progress. As a trader, you'll be supplied with One Red Paper Clip yard signs or buttons that you can provide an individual or business that has traded with you. Encourage them to display their sign or button with pride - letting others know that they played an important role in this fundraiser's success.

Can I sweeten the deal and offer a free item or service from my business to entice people to trade with me?
Sure.

What if I want to contribute to this fundraiser, but don't have time to participate as a trader?
We invite companies and individuals that want to support UDS to participate by donating an item or service for trade. Call UDS at (717) 397-1841 to schedule a drop-off time for your donation.

How many people can be one one team?
There are no formal limits, but 8 people maximum seems comfortable to us. Remember that if you're trading as a group, there will be some lvel of coordination required. An especially large group may become a challenge to manage.

Can I trade as an individual?
Absolutely! If you're willing to trade, we're glad to have you!

Where will the items be auctioned off?
The items will be auctioned off on ebay. Those that do not receive a minimum bid requirement on ebay will be auctioned off at the One Red Paper Clip Celebration Event on April 30 at The Lancaster Convention Center/Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square.

What if I'm interested in bidding on the final items acquired through the trading process?
We'll post a link to our ebay store on this webpage so you can view and bid on the final items acquired for auction.

How will my donation benefit people with disabilities, veterans and the elderly in communities across Pennsylvania?
Your donation will help enhance the lives of people with disabilities, veterans and the elderly through a variety of UDS programs and services.

For example, a $200 donation could enable an adult with disabilities to participate in our Adult Enrichment Program for one week. Or a $6,000 donation could pay for a person with disabilities to receive a highly trained service dog. We're committed to making sure your donation directly benefits those in need.
