UDS Service Dogs, along with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, is releasing its 2016 calendar. A heartwarming gift for dog and hockey lovers alike, UDS hopes to raise $10,000 for their program, which provides the extensive training needed to transform ordinary dogs into extraordinary sources of physical and emotional support for people with disabilities.
The 2016 UDS-Hershey Bears calendar features photos of Hershey Bears players along with team mascot Coco enjoying time with 18 UDS service dogs and puppies. New to this year’s calendar are UDS Service Dogs Program clients with their Service Dog. All of these dogs have appeared in previous calendars. When asked about the addition of program clients, Lori Breece stated “we were looking for an opportunity to do something a little different with the calendar and thought fans would enjoy seeing our clients who have received a Service Dog from us, a dog they might remember seeing in past calendars and at the games”.
“With the holidays approaching, the calendar is a terrific gift for those who want to show support for this amazing program,” said UDS Service Dogs Manager Lori Breece. “We are so grateful to the Hershey Bears for their loyal support and everything they do to make this fundraiser possible.”
Fundraising initiatives are critical to sustaining the UDS Service Dogs Program. Over the course of their first two years, the cost to train and raise a service dog can reach up to $25,000. The Hershey Bears hockey team has partnered with UDS in promoting and selling the calendars since 2003.
“The Hershey Bears organization has enjoyed our 13 year partnership with UDS,” said Doug Yingst, President and GM of the Hershey Bears. “All players and staff look forward to helping them raise awareness and funds through their annual calendar sale.”
Calendars cost $10 each and will be available at the Giant Center at the Bears’ November 7th home game against St. John’s IceCaps. The calendar will be sold throughout the season at the Giant Center, online at www.udservices.org and www.wgal.com, and at the UDS Holiday Gift Wrap Booth at Park City Center (Sears Mall) during the holiday shopping season.
In addition to the Hershey Bears, UDS thanks new printing partner Executive Printing of Elm, PA, Molly Schlachter, Molly S. Photography and Bill and Nancy with JustSports Photography for their amazing support of the fundraising initiative.
