Bobby Gerhart Finishes 3rd at Salem, Indiana

United Disabilities Services is racing to ‘Advance the Independence of People with Disabilities’…in more ways than one.  Bobby Gerhart and the Lucas Oil/United Disabilities Services Number 5 Chevrolet finished 3rd at the Salem Speedway on Sunday April 23, 2006.   United Disabilities Services and Bobby Gerhart Racing have formed a partnership to raise financial support for United Disabilities Services programs.

In the thrilling Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 ARAC RE/MAS Series race, Billy Venturini finished first, with Ken Schrader crossing the finish line second, just ahead of Gerhart in the Number 5 Chevrolet.  Pit strategy and heads-up driving allowed Series veteran and four-time Daytona ARCA 200 winner Bobby Gerhart to finish third.  Gerhart pulled into the pit stop just once for fuel and tires, on lap 60 of the 200-lap race.

“Our car was no better on new tires than it was on old,” said Gerhart. “We were tight on gas there at the end, but pitting for new tires would have had no benefit to the handling of our race car.  We just didn’t have a very good car, so we’ll have to get that taken care of for Winchester and go get after them there.  It’s all about survival at Salem, so we’re happy with a finish.”

As a result of a 3rd place finish at the Kentuckiana Food Dealers 200 at Salem Speedway, Bobby Gerhart has the series lead with 620 points.  Billy Venturini is second with 600 points and Damon Lusk is third with 595.  Series champion Frank Kimmel is fifth with 515 points.
